The Lane Vineyard has been the custodian of an enviable piece of pristine Adelaide Hills terroir since the first vines were planted by the Edwards family in 1993. Sitting 400m high atop the rolling hills adjacent the Onkaparinga Valley, the vineyards enjoy the warm days and cool nights that the Adelaide Hills Wine Region is so famous for.
In addition to the vineyards and wines, the Lane estate is home to an acclaimed contemporary restaurant and tasting room where, just 3 kilometres from the historic village of Hahndorf and a scenic 25-minute drive from Adelaide CBD, visitors quickly feel a world away.
Amongst the four distinct tiers of wine produced – Heritage, Estate, Provenance and Lane series, it is new Provenance range that perhaps best articulate the overall food and wine philosophy of the Lane;
“The Lane Vineyard’s wines, cuisine and experiences are created to honour and preserve an identity of place. A pursuit to source, create and deliver a sophisticated, prestigious and memorable sensory experience – whether in person, in a glass or on the plate”
While The Lane began like many traditional family businesses – the team we have assembled and fostered over the years has now become the modern family and voice of The Lane. We want our visitors to feel a sense of delight and intimacy – to experience both sophistication and warmth at our estate and equally so when enjoying our wines at home.

Bleasdale are the founders of the wine region of Langhorne Creek. Discover their historic winery and view the enormous hand-hewn red gum press built in 1892. With luscious sparkling, deep reds, crisp whites and warming fortifieds, you’ll find a wine for every occasion.
Conditions for grape growing in Langhorne Creek are ideal thanks to the natural fertility of the floodplain soils, the ability of these soils to retain moisture from natural winter floods, and the moderation of the local climate by cooling evening breezes from nearby Lake Alexandrina and the Southern Ocean in summer. The red varieties thrive in this rich environment, which explains why over 75 per cent of all wine grapes grown are red wine grapes.
The harnessing of the natural flooding of the Bremer River by early grape growers makes the Langhorne Creek region quite unique. Having purchased 100 acres of land in 1850, Frank Potts developed a system of levees and floodgates to capture and divert a metre of water and nutrient rich silt across the entire vineyard. The vigour in growth caused by this natural abundance of water sometimes presented challenges, but it is now managed by modern viticultural practices.
Langhorne Creek experiences relatively low annual rainfall, so supplementary drip irrigation is used to provide the vines with every opportunity to produce optimal fruit. The soils for Bleasdale’s vineyards range from well drained, alluvial soils to brown loams over limestone.
Over the years, further varieties have been planted including Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Chardonnay. As Bleasdale grew it established contract grape growing arrangements with an increasing number of growers. Some of these relationships are entering their third generation of arrangements. These days, we are often trialling new varieties and varietal clones to ensure that we are the forefront of innovation and quality.
In 2011, Bleasdale began sourcing Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc from the cooler Adelaide Hills region, and has quickly built a reputation for quality and value white wines.
Bleasdale’s Langhorne Creek red wines have fine tannin and fruit structure, and are highly regarded for their complexity and longevity; whilst the white wines of the Adelaide Hills display elegant fruit, balance and length of flavour.
Said to be the birthplace for South Australian wines, McLaren Vale is one of the oldest established wine regions in the country. Almost a 45-minutes drive away from the SA’s capital city Adelaide, the region is bordered by a vast sea and majestic mountains. Flaunting a rich heritage of over 180 years, it offers you a range of tempting restaurants, more than 80 cellar doors, amazing architecture and great producers of food and drinks of course! From cheeses and chocolates to a variety of spirits, the region is full of unbelievable surprises, especially for a wine lover.
