CLARE VALLEY BREWING COMPANY

22 Jeanneret Rd Sevenhill, SA

The rising star of the South Australian craft brewing scene, Clare Valley Brewing is the creation of Craig Harnett and Ben Jeanneret who wanted to make a range of good-tasting beers which reflected Clare’s rich agricultural heritage.

The brewery’s idiosyncratic tasting room, Hop & Vine in Auburn, stocks the full Clare Valley Brewing range, plus some interesting limited-release table wines. “Because we’re a small brewer we can adapt quickly and come up with new ideas and respond to public demand for something novel,” says Phillip Douglas, head brewer. “Our beers are interesting without being whacky.”

GOODIESON BREWERY, MCLAREN VALE

194 Sand Road, McLaren Vale, SA
Hours: Thu – Fri 3pm til 5pm
Sat & Sun 11am til 5pm
Closed – Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day and Good Friday

Cellar Door

Set in a gorgeous location on the flat of the valley at the back of McLaren Vale, our cellar door is a relaxed space with a serene terrace that looks out past the tree-lined creek, over vineyards and across the valley to the southern Mt Lofty Ranges, birds fill the air and if you are lucky you might even spot a kangaroo in the vineyards.  Here you can see the brewery in action and taste our handcrafted beer.

Not just home to our award-winning beer, but also a lazy old red dog, a few sheep and a goat and free-ranging chickens.

It’s taken 10 years to get it to where we are, and we hope that you find the time to sit and enjoy the fruits of our labour, you won’t regret it.

Group Visits

Our licence capacity is small, along with our Cellar door.  If your group is smaller than 4-6 people then there is no need to make a booking, but please understand that if it wet there might not be seats inside, please phone us.

There have been many changes since COVID-19 came into our lives, and as our Cellar Door is predominately outdoor and as it is winter it is hard to know what the weather is going to do more than a few days out from the weekend, and we have very limited space inside, and must adhere to our COVID plan.   So…….

If you would like to bring a group along you definitely need to book, but you will only be able to book from the Wednesday before the weekend that you would like to come in on.

We only take groups up to about 8 people and the last group booking is 12.30pm, there are no group bookings after that.  Please call 0409 676 542 to make this booking.
Bus / Tour Groups Booking Required

And please remember if you are travelling on a licenced bus, that as a courtesy you must leave any alcohol you have, on the bus, we don’t want to see it walking into our Cellar Door nor being consumed on our grounds.

Beer Tasting

We offer you the opportunity to taste our beer in various ways in the form of a paddle of four beers or just a chilled beer out on the terrace.

Food

We do not offer food at the brewery but feel free to bring your own picnic or snacks.

Inspired by their earlier travels in Germany and Austria Jeff and Mary Goodison have created a small, traditional brewery – Goodieson Brewery – in the heart of McLaren Vale.
The family-run brewery also releases a number of seasonal beers throughout the year, including a full-bodied stout in autumn and a popular spiced Christmas Ale.

“I started my own brewery with the aim of making authentic European beers but using the best malt and hops from Australia,” says Jeff. “At the same time I like to challenge myself, which is why we make so many seasonal ales.

Alistair Turnbull established the brewery in 2007 and today his beers from the Lobethal Bierhaus can be found in many Adelaide pubs. The brewery has eight regular beers on tap, plus seasonal and one-off creations. “My preference is to focus on beer styles I personally like,” says Alistair. “While I do love to taste beers that truly test the boundaries for me the best beers are ones you can enjoy by the pint with friends, accompanied with good food and plenty of entertaining banter.”

The restaurant is extremely busy on weekends, so arrive early to secure your table. Outside, under the leafy trees, is popular with the regulars.

Based in Willunga, Vale Brewing (formerly McLaren Vale Beer Company) is one of South Australia’s most successful boutique brewers, with a strong following in the Eastern states.

“We take established styles of beer and put our own twist on them,” says Jeff Wright, head brewer. “My ambition is to make beer which is approachable, flavoursome and hopefully you can have a few of.” Vale Brewing is also behind the brand Fox Hat Brewing which is dedicated to making “unique and untraditional beers” aimed at the more adventurous beer drinker. Each batch is tiny – just 2000-litres.

“With our pale ale we wanted to create something which was different, full-bodied, has heaps of flavour but still very drinkable,” said brewer Ben Potts. It’s available to taste, alongside some boutique wines, at The Winehouse in the centre of town, which also serves great country fare and hosts live music most weekends.
