WINERIES – IPSWICH AND SURROUND, QUEENSLAND

South East Queensland’s Scenic Rim Wine Country starts just 15 minutes west of Ipswich, most of the area being just an hour’s drive from Brisbane or the Gold Coast. So close!

The Scenic Rim is one of the fastest growing wine tourism regions in Queensland, and its rich volcanic soils are producing premium wines which are making their mark on the state and national wine shows.The South East Queensland (SEQ) climate allows a diverse range of grape varieties to be grown. You’ll find dozens of wine varieties on offer, many of them award winners.

The cellar doors are filled with people passionate about enjoying Queensland wine in this glorious rural setting.

The Scenic Rim Wine Trail threads from one end of the area to the other, with five wineries along the trail.

BUNJURGEN ESTATE WINERY

Bunjurgen Estate operates a cellar door sales program. Visitors are invited to pop in to the vineyard and park in the parking area: then enjoy either the outdoor cellar door under a lovely jacaranda tree with tables and chairs, or an undercover cellar door in our 6 bay shed with a bar, barrels and protection from rain and wind. A substantial upright refrigerator provides chilled Rose sytles and chilled Verjuice, Sparkling Verjuice and White and Cherry port.

5 acres of lawns provide a picnic area should you wish to visit with friends and bring your own food – the cellar door provides wine for consumption here either by the bottle or glass

annual LA BUNJURGA Festival is held on the 3rd Sunday of May and is a very popular food, wine and music festival – our 100 seat annual Long Table lunch is held in September each year and is a legendary afternoon in the open air.

Wine lovers in the Ipswich area should put Ironbark Ridge Vineyard on their ‘must do’ list. Situated in rural Purga, just 15 minutes’ drive from Ipswich and 45 minutes from Brisbane
Ironbark Ridge produces many Award Winning Wines. The historical tasting room built in early 1900’s was originally a miners cottage and now offers cellar door tastings and sales along with a selection of cheeses, olives and coffee.
The Cellar Door facility also has a range of memorabilia of Ironbark Ridge and some local made products using Ironbark Ridge Port or Liqueur Chardonnay.

KOOROOMBA VINEYARD RESTAURANT & LAVENDER FARM

Nestled in the Fassifern Valley at Mt Alford near Boonah, about 65 minutes from Brisbane and 1hr 45minutes from the Gold Coast.The property consists of a cellar door, restaurant and lavender shop which overlooks a six hectare vineyard and a breathtaking lavender field

The award winning cellar door/restaurant complex is of a 5 star level and is a blend of rustic and contemporary architecture.

The wine marketed from the cellar door is from grape grown on the property.

O’REILLY’S CANUNGRA VALLEY VINEYARD

O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyards is located outside of Canungra on Lamington National Park Road and IS OPEN SEVEN DAYS A WEEK for delicious picnic baskets, pizzas, cheese boards plus our famous artisan O’Reilly’s wine (including tasting paddles)!  Don’t forget about the Mountview Alpaca Farm located on their property – spend some time feeding the cuddly alpacas or even take one for a walk through our lush vineyard grounds.

Lovely little cellar with chocolates and little gifts to buy. Paul the man who runs the Cellar door was great, he was very knowledgable about all the wines we tasted and spend lots of time explaining the different varieties. As well as the free wine tasting Paul and his amazing handlebar Mustache make this stop very worthwhile!

SCENIC RIM BREWERY & CAFE

The Overflow 1895 is a historic grazing property with 12 kilomtres of water frontage to picturesque Wyaralong Dam. In 2010, The Overflow Estate 1895 vineyard was established. Vermentino, Fiano, Tempranillo and Montepulciano varieties are grown on the three acre holding with 2500 vines.

The wine tasting experience is $10 per head and typically lasts a minimum of 60 minutes. The tasting includes six pours and permits freedom of choice between all of our wines (excluding any members’ only wines). Your friendly tasting host will guide you through every pour, providing tasting notes for each wine. A separate artisanal cider tasting is also available for $16.

WITCHES FALLS WINERY

The intimate cellar door is the perfect space to enjoy your wine tasting experience. The large glass windows frame a view into their wonderful world of winemaking and start many a conversation about the process. The gorgeous grounds are dotted with bean bags, picnic rugs and tables – all ready for you to sit, relax and enjoy a glass of wine in the company of friends. With just one phone call they can tailor a picnic to order or alternatively, you are welcome to bring your own.
