Bago Vineyards and Maze is a charming rustic hinterland winery with a surprising 2000 metres of pathways and lookouts in the largest hedge maze in NSW. Test your navigation skills then reward your effort with a wine and cheese platter overlooking the vineyard. Look out for Jazz in the Vineyards on the second Sunday of every month. Visit the Baba Lila Chocolate Shop while you’re there and see their chocolates being created before your very eyes. Their Baba & Bago wine and chocolate paddles are paired to perfection.
At Douglas Vale Historic Homestead and Vineyard history hunters can learn about Port Macquarie’s penal history and explore the Homestead built in 1859. The homestead is the oldest timber house in the region and fully run by volunteers. Wine here is produced from the original Isabella grape and it is classified by the National Trust. There is also a family connection to the oyster farming industry on the Hastings River.
Long Point Vineyard and Art Gallery is a charming take on the traditional vineyard, offering wine tastings, local art and delicious products from the Hastings hinterland. Exhibits change on a bi-monthly basis and you can browse the artwork with a tasting glass in hand. Be sure to try their refreshing alcoholic ginger beer and wander the grounds to view their awesome outdoor sculptures.
Little Fish Cafe Restaurant and Vineyard offers dining on the verandah, Head Chef Steve brings his passion for cooking all the way from his family’s vineyard & restaurant in France. His menu changes with the seasons, and an excellent range of local wines is on offer, served on the verandah or in the gardens overlooking the vineyards…it doesn’t get much better than this in Port Macquarie.
