 LATASHA'S PLACE
 After 18 years of family training, Latasha had mastered the art of traditional, home-style, southern Indian curries. Resisting any temptation to tailor her original recipes to suit the Western palate, her creations are just as spicy and deliciously light in texture as the dishes her mother used to make. She's also successfully converted her customers to appreciate the flavour of meat cooked on the bone - her recipe for red pork fry (mild vindaloo) and sambhar. There are 12 freshly prepared dishes to choose from each day - sometimes as many as 20 on Saturdays - alongside savoury nibbles, Indian sweets and Latasha's own-made pickles, chutneys and relishes. Making her own yogurt with whole milk, she creates a deliciously refreshing mango lassi. Should you require a tonic to soothe your tongue after the meal, a glass of teh tarik (pulled tea) should do the trick.
MONZA
 Flaunting its own unique brand of downtown Manhattan-style flair, Monza's mellow ambience and mouth-watering mod-Oz fare are a must-try. Comfy leatherette booths flank the room, while huge mirrors, blackboard menus and commissioned artworks don the walls, and a plethora of canvas lanterns hang from the ceiling.
Owner Karen Kuehlmann and former Altos chef Luke Butler have put a lot of thought into creating dishes for all pockets and palates. On weekends you can breakfast on freshly toasted Italian bread with house-made preserves, a teetering pile of banana and ricotta pancakes, or the Monza big breakfast. Every day of the week you can snack on bruschetta, focaccias, crispy thin-crust pizzas or Monza's famous antipasto plate.
